Final Reflection

1.      After reading through my posts, I saw some that gave me PTSD and others that I actually enjoyed writing. Some of the assignments, in my opinion, required a lot of footwork and less writing. I always prefer to write more and do research over talking to people about my business idea that may never actually happen. 2.      One post I’ll remember for years to come was when I spoke to the AIDS patients who could vouch that marijuana helped with their pain. I remember one of the patients said, “It’s not about getting high, it’s about getting well.” That made me realize many patients take this seriously and have a dire need for this drug. I’m glad that I stepped outside my comfort zone and talked to these individuals about a touchy subject for some, but personal experience for them. 3.      At the end of this course, I can confidently say that I’ve learned more about what being an entrepreneur entails. ...

Venture Concept No. 2

Last year, the U.S. News and World Report ranked the University of Florida’s Shands Hospital as the second best hospital in Florida and one of the leading hospitals in cancer research. Because of this, people from all across the country have come here to Gainesville for treatment and specialty clinics. Even though Shands is always on the forefront of modern health and technology, medical marijuana was only welcomed to the city a year ago after Florida passed Amendment 2 in 2016. Today, there’s only one dispensary in a 5-mile radius of the hospital, which makes picking up a prescription difficult for patients not residing near Shands.             I believe there’s an opportunity in Gainesville for a medical marijuana dispensary that can allow patients to download our app and schedule what product they’d like, when they’d like it, and if they’d like it delivered to them.
