What's your secret sauce?

I believe that there are five reasons why I have human capital that makes me stand out amongst my peers:
·      I have a very friendly and welcoming presence. After working at Chick-fil-A for two years, it’s become natural for me to always smile and ignite conversation, trying to make peoples’ days a little better.
·      I put others before myself. Chick-fil-A also taught me this, because I had to serve other peoples’ needs and make sure they’re met before mine.
·      I radiate positivity. People can get down on themselves over little, meaningless things. Those annoyances aren’t part of the big picture in life, so it’s important to stay optimistic and keep striving towards your goals.
·      I’m loud. I’m not afraid to raise my voice and assert dominance when put in a leadership position.
·      I’m driven. I don’t care what it takes or how long it takes to get where I want to be in life, but I hope to achieve it one day. I’ll work hard and diligently to be successful and do the most.

I interviewed five of my friends to hear what they think about my character, and here’s what they said:
·      My boyfriend said he most admires how passionate I am about my work, and also how I’m selfless when it comes to my friends’ needs. During the interview he complimented my blue eyes and that they draw people in, but he’s just saying that because we date (LOL).
·      My roommate complimented my sympathy for others and my easy-going personality. She said when it comes to my job, she knows I take things very seriously, but hanging out with me is effortless because I’m easy to get along with.
·      My study abroad roommate said her favorite aspect about me is that I’m never afraid to try new things or go to new places. She likes how I’m always up for an adventure and meeting new people.
·      One of my best friends said she loves how I’m always in a good mood and trying to make people laugh. My positivity is “contagious” and when I smile, she smiles.
·      Lastly, my other good friend said she loves how driven and involved I am with my major, and appreciates how I’m friendly to everyone who approaches me.

Thinking about what my friends said, I think there are some similarities and differences in how I perceive myself and my personality. I don’t usual consider myself comical, but I do try to smile and laugh a lot. I definitely agree with majority of my friends that I’m a passionate and positive person, always trying to do my best and be my happiest. I definitely think my interviewees are accurate though, because they’re the people around me the most, so they can have an accurate account of my personality. I guess the one thing I’d change in my list is that I’m loud; it’s not that I’m not loud, but maybe I’m a more care-free and relaxed individual (I really don’t yell all that often).

  1. Hi Kristen! Your interviews took the same road mine did! Everyone I spoke to said I was so sweet and easy to get along with and that I am also very personable. You definitely sound like me! I'm hard working, but carefree when it is needed. I think interviewing people that we spend most of our time with is the only way to complete this assignment since if we asked people we didn't really know, they would't really have a valid opinion on who we actually are as people - it would be more of a wild guess.

  2. Hi Kristen, Good job with getting people close to you to help you with this. It was important to get people close to you because they get to know the real you and know how you are on a day to day basis. It seemed that most of your friends kind of compared you the same and that shows that those are true qualities to you. When there are similarities, it means that more than yourself or one other person see that quality in you.

  3. Hi Kristen! I enjoyed reading about your secret sauce and get a little insight on what makes you unique. I like that you are driven while still being friendly and approachable. These qualities will help you tremendously in the long run especially being driven because being an entrepreneur will come with ups and downs so you must remain focus on the vision.
