Idea Napkin No. 2

1.     After reviewing the feedback on my first idea napkin, who I am hasn’t really changed at all. I’m still a news journalist working for the Gainesville Sun, and I believe my talents are my affability and openness. By creating a familiarity with my sources, they often feel more comfortable to open up and give detailed accounts. And again, even as my business idea has evolved, I still don’t believe a delivery system for medical marijuana would benefit my career and aspirations.
2.     I’m offering customers a convenient and effortless way to get their specific prescription to them on time. This is important because many medical marijuana patients have chronic illnesses, and don’t know how they’ll be feeling on the day they need their medicine. However, this idea could be altered and expanded to all prescriptions, not just medical marijuana.
3.     Since I’m based in Florida, my best customers will be the 100,000+ medical marijuana patients in the state, as well as anyone prescribed a medication (which jumps my customer base in the millions). Believe it or not, the demographic is wide – patients can be children, the elderly, male, female or in between. If they experience intense pain, are chronically ill and are registered patients, then they have the need for medication.
4.      The patients know better than anyone that some days are worse than others. They wake up, and their minds and bodies feel weak. They can’t predict when they’ll feel this way, and when they do, it’s likely they won’t be up for a quick trip to the dispensary or pharmacy. People will pay for my service because it will deliver the prescription right to their door, and even have a credit payment system in place. With my product, patients will see this is the most efficient, no hassle process to their medicine.
5.     I have a bright, optimistic attitude all the time. Don’t get me wrong, I have my bad days, but I always strive to do my best and accomplish the most with what I’m given. I believe my positive attitude will help me to hire a kind and understanding team of employees that will always meet the customer’s needs.

I definitely believe that these aspects flow together nicely and create the big picture for my business idea. When in the medicine industry, it’s important to be sympathetic to patients and what they’re going through while ensuring they’re medically taken care of. In the medical marijuana industry, majority of the patients suffer from either cancer, glaucoma or AIDS. These patients may feel their illness takes over their physical and mental well-being, so it’s important to have a friendly, efficient dispensary they can go to.

Majority of my feedback was positive regarding my idea of a delivery system for medical marijuana, but one of my peers mentioned doing this for all prescriptions. I do think that’s a great idea because it will help me expand my customer base. However, an actual pharmacy license is much more difficult to acquire than a medical marijuana one – it takes schooling, practice, interning, etc. I incorporated the idea into my idea napkin by considering how any patient receiving medication would prefer it to be delivered.
